Cardinals Flight Plan
Cardinals Flight Plan is an all-access, behind-the-scenes documentary series that offers fans a rare and intimate glimpse into the Arizona Cardinals' journey - from offseason decisions to in-season moments. The series brings viewers into private conversations, pivotal choices, and personal stories that typically stay within the walls of the organization. By blending football strategy with authentic, helmet-off moments, Flight Plan formed a unique and powerful connection between the team and its fans.
As the lead producer and editor from the very beginning in 2018 until my departure in 2022, Cardinals Flight Plan became a passion project that I poured my heart into. Alongside Richard Mendez and Johnathan Hayward, we crafted each episode, and under the guidance of Tim Delaney, we created a compelling narrative that pushed the boundaries of storytelling in sports content. From 2018 to 2022, I produced over 30 episodes, each one evolving in both storytelling depth and production quality. With every episode, I challenged myself to raise the bar, integrating innovative cinematography, seamless editing, and powerful narrative techniques to immerse viewers in the Cardinals' world..
Pivotal moments throughout the franchise's history were captured with an unprecedented level of depth in Cardinals Flight Plan. Over those four seasons I worked on the series, we told the stories behind some of the most defining events in the team’s journey. This included covering two major coaching staff changes, the selection of Kyler Murray as the #1 overall draft pick, and unforgettable moments like the surprise free-agent signing of J.J. Watt and the miraculous game-winning Hail Mary catch by DeAndre Hopkins. These were just a few of the landmark moments we documented, bringing fans behind the scenes to experience the highs, the struggles, and everything in between.
As you can see by the sheer number of episodes featured on this page, Cardinals Flight Plan was a major priority for our content team and required an immense amount of effort. Each episode presented a unique theme, a distinct story, and a specific purpose - all aimed at showcasing the Arizona Cardinals' journey both on and off the field. It was a dynamic, ever-evolving project that demanded creativity, coordination, and a deep understanding of the team’s narrative, making each episode a compelling and integral part of the series.
Below is season 1 of Cardinals Flight Plan, which focused on the retirement of Head Coach Bruce Arians and the hiring of Steve Wilks and drafting of Quarterback Josh Rosen. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far the series has evolved since that first season. It’s a true testament to the growth and progress we made over the years, both in terms of storytelling and production quality. Watching those early episodes, you can see how much we learned and how much the show improved as we continued to develop this docu-series.
The series was initially marketed primarily to Facebook Watch during its first year - a new platform at the time that many thought could rival YouTube. In that first year, Flight Plan proved to be a huge success, garnering over 14 million views and creating a wave of excitement around the team’s digital content. After pivoting to YouTube exclusively in subsequent seasons, the show’s popularity continued to soar, with episodes I produced from 2018 - 2022 currently totaling over 3.5 million views - averaging more than 115,000 views per episode.
