Panthers Hall of Honor: Video Series

The Panthers' Hall of Honor celebrates the organization's greatest alumni — players whose names are immortalized in the stadium’s ring of honor, visible to every fan at every game. In 2023, Julius Peppers and Muhsin “Moose” Muhammad were announced as the newest inductees, marking a major moment for the franchise.

Knowing how seriously the Panthers value their Legends and alumni, I understood this was a project where my team and I had to deliver stellar work. Over the course of this project, we conducted over 15 interviews across the Carolinas and beyond, carefully combed through hours of archival NFL Films footage, and crafted thoughtful narratives that honored both Peppers and Muhammad.

It was an incredible challenge — one that demanded creativity, dedication, and teamwork — and I’m proud of the final product we delivered.

This project was a true divide-and-conquer effort between myself, Jack Chapman, and Kelly Bright. I produced and edited the Muhsin Muhammad feature, while Jack took the lead on the Julius Peppers piece. Kelly was instrumental in editing key segments for both projects, providing crucial support that elevated both videos.

Each story required a unique narrative approach to capture the essence of these two legendary Panthers.

Muhsin Muhammad's Story focused on his grit, toughness, and the physical presence that defined those early 2000s Panthers teams. His unconventional size as a wide receiver and reputation as one of the league’s best blocking receivers highlighted his relentless mindset. On top of that, Moose was a showman — likening himself to a gladiator in the arena — always performing for the fans. His story reached its emotional peak when he reflected on the sacrifices he made to succeed, breaking into tears as he described how much this honor meant to him. The piece closed with his two most iconic Panthers moments — including his record-setting 85-yard touchdown catch in Super Bowl XXXVIII, a record that still stands today.

Julius Peppers' Story was an entirely different narrative. Peppers was the ‘chosen one’ — a North Carolina native destined for greatness as the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. His story explored the immense pressure that came with those expectations — and how his rare, otherworldly talent allowed him to not just meet those expectations, but exceed them. While Moose’s journey was defined by relentless grind, Peppers’ was about fulfilling a destiny — a challenge in its own right.

Bringing these two distinct narratives to life was incredibly rewarding. Balancing the emotional depth of Moose’s journey with the awe-inspiring presence of Peppers made for a memorable project — one that I’m incredibly proud to have played a major role in.

Above are the full-length feature pieces — but below are the condensed, ‘trailerized’ versions. I created both of these before the main features were done, which was helpful in building the narrative for those longer pieces. Both pieces were shown at the Hall of Honor reception dinner, giving the inductees their first glimpse of the heartfelt stories and memorable moments shared about them. They were also played in the stadium bowl in front of 50,000+ fans during the official Hall of Honor induction.

Condensing hours of footage into a powerful two-minute piece is its own unique challenge. The goal was to distill their incredible careers, lasting impact, and emotional stories into something that felt both meaningful and memorable — all within a tight window. Just like a full feature, crafting these trailers required thoughtful storytelling to hit the right emotional beats and leave a lasting impression.
